Accounting Assistant (Sent Church)

Summary of Position:
The Accounting Assistant will provide administrative and accounting support to the Lead Accountant by performing a variety of general accounting functions. This role will work closely with the lead accountant to ensure the accuracy and proper recording of the church finances. This is a part-time, hourly position with a target of 25 hours per week. Preference will be given to candidates willing to make Sent Church their church home.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily accounting activities across multiple entities.
  • Manage and track weekly tithes and offerings.
  • Prepare and send quarterly/annual giving statements to donors.
  • Process rental income and other non-giving receivables across entities.
  • Invoice and maintain resident accounts (assisted living facility).
  • Manage accounts payable and vendor files across multiple entities.
  • Process weekly payables across multiple entities
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly.
  • Prepare monthly ministry support payments.
  • Serve as an administrative office backup for phones and visitors.
  • Other accounting tasks as assigned.

Other Staff Responsibilities:
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and any other strategic meetings as needed.
  • Fulfill any assignments that may arise to assist in the fulfillment of the church mission and vision of the church.
  • Be actively involved in some form of an adult small group and/or discipleship group.

Position Requirements:
  • Education - High School Degree required.
  • 1-2 years accounting experience preferred; QuickBooks exp a plus.
  • Interacts effectively with a variety of work styles and people.
  • Able to process confidential information in an appropriate manner.
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal, non-verbal, and written.
  • Ability to prioritize, focus on key objectives, and multitask.
  • Detail-oriented, showing initiative and effective follow-through with assignments.
